Sarah Daugherty, PhD, MPH

Sarah Daugherty, PhD MPH, is a Principal Scientist at Carelon Research with expertise in genetic epidemiology, oncology, health outcomes research, and patient-centered outcomes research. In her role at Carelon Research, Dr. Daugherty provides senior leadership and oversight for a broad range of research studies using qualitative and quantitative methods. Dr. Daugherty values multi-stakeholder engagement to ensure the development of meaningful and relevant research. Prior to joining Carelon Research, she spent nearly a decade leading prospective and retrospective cohort studies in the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics at the National Cancer Institute, overseeing comparative effectiveness research studies at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) for seven years, and most recently provided scientific leadership as a Principal Consultant at Optum Genomics, United Health Group.

Dr. Daugherty has co-produced innovative research in partnership with a broad array of healthcare research stakeholders, published numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts across a wide-range of topics, and has served as a guest lecturer over the past decade at George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health.
